FAQ
How does a recruitment agency work?
Recruitment agencies work with their client companies to help them fill their open positions, on a temporary, contract, or full-time basis. For example, let's say a mining company needs to hire 5 people for a particular project. They might turn to a recruitment agency for help. The agency is paid a fee by the client company to provide the necessary staffing. The trick is to remember that you're an employee of the agency and not the client company. You're simply assigned to that company by the agency. In some client companies, assuming you do a great job, you may get hired on permanently by the client company, at which point you'd no longer work for the agency. Many times, this is a great "foot-in-the-door" with a company.
Do I have to pay a recruitment agency to place me?
No No No! Fees are not charged to the candidate. The client company and the agency work out a deal between themselves. Lot's of times the fee is calculated as a percentage of your salary, but again the money is NOT coming out of your pocket. This should be the case with all agencies. Caveat Emptor big time on that one!
